In short, our Quest is to cruise the world by sea -starting in the Summer of 2010- for an indefinite number of years.
The sturdy and comfortable vessel taking us for the ride of our life is Camelot, a Catalina 470 Sloop Rig with a wing keel. She has been our home for the past three years.
The crew dreaming of this ambitious plan: Tom, undisputed Captain -given his knowledge of everything sailing- and Lori, his wife and more-than-willing accomplice.
We sold our house in Jan 2006, got rid of the majority of our belongings and moved aboard our then-boat Endless Summer – a Catalina 36 – while waiting for Camelot to be built.
Finally, after much anticipation, some pouting and more than a few tantrums on Tom’s part for a delay or two, we took delivery of Camelot in September 2006. We have spent the past three years equipping this boat with all the latest and greatest amenities one could ever wish for, in order to make our cruising life more comfortable.
So many additions and improvements, in fact, that our friends here on the docks re-christened our boat “Toys-R-Us”…
But I think we’re almost there! A colorful spinnaker to fly in light air was just added, now only a couple of big-ticket items remain on our “to-have” list: a new alternator and a liferaft -hopefully never to be used!-, then we’re as ready as we’ll ever be.
